FAQ's

What is RACE SD?

Similar to the Amazing Race, teams of two will race around San Diego completing challenges and tasks in order to be the first team to reach the finish line

How long is it?

RACE SD takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. The race will begin in the morning and then finish around 3pm with potential breaks depending on how many legs there are.

I'm not a track athlete, do I still have a chance to win

This is an event meant to make memories. Winning is cool, but when will you have an opportunity to race around a city, completing fun challenges, pushing yourself mentally and doing something you don't get to do very often! With that being said, while this is a physical event, brains and collaboration are much more important than how fast can you get from one location to another.

Good navigation skills, regardless of whether you're familiar with the area, are helpful. Choose a teammate that you communicate well with. Although you definitely don't need to be an athlete, you should be in reasonably good physical shape. Running is never required, however it is often advantageous.

Okay... but winning do I get a prize?

Yes the winning team will win $200, but isn't it more about the friends and memories you make along the way

Who can participate?

One team member must be older than 18 and recommended youngest is 15, but if your 11 year old is a huge amazing race fan and thinks they can beat the competition, then we would be glad to have them

How do I sign up?

You will apply at the form on this page

Where is the starting line?

The starting line will be sent to all participants a week before the race. This allows you to scope out the area if you want to, but we want to keep it a surprise as it changes each year.

This sounds awesome, but could I just volunteer and not do the race?

Yes we are also looking for volunteers who would be willing to hand out clues and help with challenges throughout the day. If this is more your speed, we would love to have you! On the application just mark you would want to volunteer instead of compete.
